Visit by Livestock Meat Commission
On Friday we had a visit from Zelda, from the Livestock Meat Commission who explained the importance of buying quality assured beef and lamb. When we see their logo on meat we can be assured the animals have been raised under strict rules of sustainability, animal welfare and use of medications. Quality assured meat is available in our local supermarkets, just look for their logo.
Zelda explained the important role meat plays in our diet as part of the Eatwell Plate. Meat gives us protein for growth and repair as well as the important mineral iron.
Zelda then cooked a beautiful chilli beef pasta dish, which everyone enjoyed. Delicious!
The children also received a recipe booklet for their family.
We all look forward to tasty dinners over the holidays, with the children helping in their preparation!
Thanks to Zelda and the LMC for highlighting the importance of sourcing quality meat and working with our pupils.
