Firefighters Visit

KS2 were very lucky to receive a visit from our local fire brigade. They had been busy earlier this week fighting fires in the Mournes, but took time to explain how we all can be fire safe at home.
They focused on the need for a bedtime routine and why we need to switch off appliances and unplug sockets. An important message was to avoid putting on the tumble dryer before going to bed as it is one of the main causes of house fires! They stressed the necessity of a working smoke alarm and a family escape plan if we ever need to evacuate the house. The pupils are now experts and will convey the vital fire safety messages to their families.­
